Football Bucket List Update - Fall 2016

Just a brief update on my football bucket list as the 2016 football season comes to a close. MSU is hot toilet, so no bowl game in store for me this year. That leaves three games, and venues, to tick off the list below. 

The first was UC Berkeley, which was a Friday night game against Oregon. Sadly, I was not able to get out of work early enough to check out the tailgate scene. The stadium was in decent shape, though an odd design as half the stadium did not have a proper concourse as it is built up on a hill overlooking campus. The one part I hated about the stadium was at the bottom rows between the twenties, there is an elevated platform where the dance team dances that blocks a good portion of the field. 

The next venue was UNC - Chapel Hill, where my cousin Mikey is the starting defensive end. They were playing Georgia Tech for their homecoming game. I found the tailgate scene to be typical of a basketball school: lots of minimal tailgating with some serious tailgates sprinkled in. That being said, I was there to see my cousin. He had a good game, so that is all that mattered.

The final locale on the docket was Florida in Gainesville. This trip was organized because my old MSU roomate and current unofficial legal consigliare went to law school in Florida. A bunch of his law school cronies drove up from around the state of Florida to crash in Jacksonville, then take a party bus to Gainsville for the game. The bus was rowdy, with a proper power hour to get the day off right. Tailgating included stopping by one of their professor's houses for flip cup, and crashing a frat party. The game was not the greatest, but the fans brought it and the experience was enjoyable. After the game, I picked up some swag at the bookstore, and then cranked the dial at the bars before more rowdiness on the bus back to Jax. An excellent weekend!
